    Our Private Treatments

Want to learn more about our treatments? Please see below a short explanation of our procedures. If you would like to learn more about these please contact us for more information.

    Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment entails the application of brackets and wires to straighten teeth. Treatment is generally carried out for approximately between 6 months to 2 years depending on the severity of your condition. During this time it is essential to attend regular appointments for monitoring and adjustments to achieve the desired results.

We can treat those under 18 who fit the NHS criteria, free of charge.

    Crowns

Dental crowns are used to treat teeth that, due to decay or the failure of a large filling, have lost a significant part of their structure. Also known as caps, dental crowns fit over your damaged tooth, to protect the remains of the tooth structure, and restore it to its original shape and size. The colour is matched to that of your own teeth and will look and feel exactly as a natural tooth.  Crowns available on the NHS are typically metal crowns with tooth coloured porcelain covering. Metal free crowns are also available which are extremely durable and, depending on the type, carry a 10 year guarantee.

    Fillings

Fillings are used to repair damaged teeth following decay, tooth wear or trauma and are typically are made of dental amalgam, which is a metallic compound containing mercury and has been used for a long time. We also provide white fillings which are coloured to match the shade of the rest of your teeth. These type of fillings provide you with a natural appearance.

    Dentures

Dentures are a long established solution to tooth loss that can be removed whenever necessary. Our dentures are custom made over 3-4 appointments so that they comfortably fit your mouth and last for many years. Dentures are generally made of acrylic (plastic), replacing some or all of missing teeth in the mouth. Dentures can also be made in a metal form which reduces the bulk and are usually more secure.

    Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment, also called endodontics, is required when the blood of nerve supply of the tooth is infected through decay or injury. You may not feel any pain during the early stages of the infection, but this may eventually lead to an abscess. The symptoms of an abscess can range from a dull ache to severe pain, and the tooth may be tender when you bite. If root canal treatment is not carried out, the infection will spread and the tooth may need to be extracted.

Root canal treatment is available on the NHS and in most cases is successful. Sometimes complex cases may have to be referred to dentists who have developed greater skills in this area. We are able to offer this at the practice and a private charge would be incurred due to the experience of the dentist as well as specialist equipment and techniques being used to ensure greater chances of success.

    Bridges

There are many types of bridges available, generally, they are one of the best and affordable solutions for missing teeth. The false tooth is anchored to a neighbouring healthy tooth to replace the gap caused by one or more missing teeth.

    Teeth Whitening

The gradual darkening of natural teeth is a natural occurrence that happens over time due to what we regularly eat and drink. Whitening of the teeth is a safe and effective way of giving you the lightness and a brighter smile back.

    We offer two different type of systems;

    System 1:

Detailed consultation – where we discuss your specific needs and formulate a treatment plan to discuss the whiteness achievable. Duration 30 minutes. Power Bleaching – we carry out a whitening treatment in surgery using hydrogen peroxide gels. Duration 45-60 minutes.

    System 2:

    Detailed consultation – as above.

Home whitening – where we take moulds of your teeth and make up bleaching trays. Under our instruction bleaching gels will be provided and treatment would be carried out at home. The best course of treatment to give the best and long lasting effects would be a scale and polish with the hygienist, a power bleach in surgery and then treatment carried out at home.

    Gum Treatment

Gum disease is described as swelling, soreness or infection of the tissues that support the teeth. There are two main forms of gum disease: gingivitis and periodontal disease.

Gingivitis means ‘inflammation of the gums’. This is when the gums around the teeth become very red and swollen. Often the swollen gums bleed when they are brushed during cleaning. Long-standing gingivitis can turn into periodontal disease. If this is not treated, the teeth may eventually fall out.

To remove plaque and tartar that can build up on your teeth, we offer treatments carried out by our dental hygienist.

The dental hygienist will scrape away plaque and tartar from your teeth using special instruments, then polish your teeth to remove marks or stains. If a lot of plaque or tartar has built up, you may need to have more than one scale and polish.

In some cases of gum disease, a deep clean may be required that gets rid of bacteria from the roots of your teeth. In most cases a local anaesthetic is administered for this treatment.

    Botox

Everyone knows that regular exercise and a balanced diet are important ways to stay healthy and look well. Unfortunately, we all get older and it shows in our faces. Although frown lines and wrinkles are a normal part of life, it can make you look tired and older than you really are.

A minute amount of botox is injected into the muscles which causes the muscle to relax and thus has a smoothing effect on the skin.

Treatment can take as little as 30 minutes and most people can return to normal activities immediately afterwards. The smoothing effect of the first treatment usually lasts for up to 4 months.
